4 Ways to Mentally Prepare for Your Job Interview

job interview can be a mentally draining process. While it often happens to novice jobseekers, it’s something that affects experienced professionals, too. It’s even worse when you’re attending multiple job interviews on the same day.

But there are some tips you can keep in mind to make your next interview easier. With time, you’ll find the interview process isn’t so intimidating after all!

Know Your Resume

Take the time to familiarize yourself with your resume. This is especially true if your resume has been written by a friend, colleague or another third party. Moreover, make sure you’re familiar with your past experiences – including achievements, examples, and statistics – so you can easily reference them throughout the interview.

Create a Go-To Phrase

In some cases, you might need to give yourself some time to come up with an answer or to just take a quick mental break. With that in mind, it’s helpful to come up with a go-to phrase, such as “That’s a great question” or “Now that you mention it.” Small, simple phrases like this can give you an extra moment to collect your thoughts without making the interviewer wait too long for your response.

Be Aware of Body Language

Paying attention to the body language is a great indicator of how the interview is going, while your own body language highlights your overall mood, intentions, and demeanor to the interviewer.

As such, try to make eye contact when responding to questions. Offer your hand for a firm handshake at the beginning and end of the interview and, finally, try to sit upright in your chair. While these might seem like small, insignificant gestures, they can go a long way when trying to make a strong first impression.

Work With a Recruiter or Staffing Agency

Finally, you can minimize the amount of interviews you have without hurting your chances of finding employment simply by working with a recruiter or staffing agency like Mega Force.
