This Footwear Provides the Most Comfort in Your Manufacturing Job

If you’ve spent any amount of time on the manufacturing floor, you already know how important it is to have proper footwear. Some hiring managers won’t even waste their time with a recruit who doesn’t have the proper apparel – work boots included.

But not all work boots are the same. As a general rule of thumb, boots that are made of real leather are often ideal. In some cases, the integration of a steel toe or steel shank might be required by an employer. If there is any question, don’t hesitate to ask – it could very well spare you from a serious injury.

Weighing Your Options

Regardless of which style you choose, some brands are known for quality. Some of the most popular work boots on the market today include:

  • Caterpillar: This is the same brand that specializes in heavy-duty industrial equipment, including cranes, diggers and excavators, so you know you’re receiving a product that is built to last. They have many different styles available, including the Second Shift, Antidote, Hydraulic and more. Most of their designs come in soft or steel toe, but each one is specifically designed for different work conditions and factory settings.
  • Dickies: A brand that has long been associated with heavy-duty work clothes, including uniforms and accessories, they offer many different work boots, too. One of their most popular products is the Dickies Spear 6″ Steel Toe Boot. It features full ankle support and slip resistance – ideal for the employee who frequently travels the factory floor. The insole is also removable so you can customize it how you see fit.
  • Timberland: Traditionally, Timberland boots have been viewed as a luxury fashion item. But they’ve recently branched off into work boots – and the results are stellar. They offer numerous styles, including the Timberland PRO TiTAN 6″ Comp Toe, the PRO Pitboss 6″ Steel Toe, the PRO 6″ Met-Guard Steel Toe and several more. With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to find exactly what you’re looking for in a heavy-duty work boot.
  • Skechers: Another type of footwear commonly associated with casual style, Skechers has a limited selection of work boots, too. One of their most popular offerings is the Skechers Sergeants-Enlisted Boot. Recognized for superior comfort and durability as well as a more attractive design than most of the other boots mentioned here, it’s good for many entry-level roles in modern factories and warehouses.

Depending on the style and brand you choose, a brand new pair of heavy-duty work boots might cost you $100 or more. Considering the quality, durability and comfort of the options listed here, as well as some of the other options on the market today, it is well worth the initial investment.
