Thinking of a Seasonal Job, but Have Questions?

People take on seasonal jobs for a variety of reasons. If they are unemployed, they may need to find a source of income quickly. If they have a job, they might need a shift that will allow them to earn extra payThey could need a position that offers more flexibility than is typical or are hoping to get a foot in the door with an employer by making a great impression on the job. Suppose you are considering a seasonal job for any of these or reasons of your own. In that case, you may have questions about how you can get temporary work, particularly through an employment agency.

Here are some common questions our candidates ask.

How soon should I apply for seasonal work?

Don’t wait! The holidays will be here before we know it. Keep in mind that busy seasons for employers are often before the actual holidays – sometimes months before. You also have to account for training time and the actual application and screening process. What does that mean for you? It’s October. Contact your recruiter now.

How do I apply?

Good question. Normally we love to have applicants come into the office, but right now, it’s better if you apply online. Fill out our online application to get started. If you’re qualified for the job, we’ll contact you for an online or in-person interview. You’ll complete our skills testing and take a drug screen.

We’ll check out your background and verify the information you provided. If everything works out, you’ll have safety training and orientation and send you along on your assignment.

How much does it cost to work with a recruiter?

It’s FREE for job seekers. Employers pay us to find people to fill their jobs. It’s in our best interest to make a great match between employers and applicants, so we’ll do our best to find you the perfect fit, but we’ll never charge you for any services.

How can I stay informed about open positions?

If the first job you apply for ends up not working out, you can continue to apply for other positions. Check in with your recruiters every week or two to update them on your availability and to remind us you are still interested in working with us.

What if I start a seasonal job, but it’s not the right fit?

Sometimes it’s hard to tell before you actually start working, so don’t feel bad. You’re not alone. If you are on an assignment and don’t think it will work out, just let us know! We can find a replacement and hopefully a new opportunity for you. We encourage you to communicate with us openly and honestly.
